ABOUT STAGES
The Stages Docuseries is a concept with unlimited possibilities. The myriad of stages, types of artists, and genres makes this an idea overflowing with unbelievable avenues to explore. The full length documentary format allows the artist to share their journey with moving story detail and visual delight (akin to The Chef’s Table series).
Season One is focused on seasoned musical performers who have lived much of their lives on stage. We get to discover their life stories, witness their talent, struggles, and breakthroughs at various phases of their journey. Original songs by the featured artists will be commissioned as part of the storytelling. Our first (pilot) episode begins with Carrie McDowell.
We have a long list of other artists to interview and share with an audience who loves musical talent and personal growth stories.
BACK STORY
This concept was born upon the completion of a 2-series audio podcast: The Moment When… Transformative stories of real people on the Heroes Journey.
Belinda (Producer) and Jeff Lams (Composer) began discussing the idea of moving into a full length documentary format with a similar premise, focusing on a specific musical performer.
Enter Belinda’s sister, Robin Severn-Fischette (Executive Producer), who broadened the concept into a docuseries, where each episode would focus on a talented musical performer and their compelling life journey.
The impetus to launch came from this contemplation:
“Let’s say we have 20 summers left. What shall we do with that time? What have we wanted to do, but were too busy or too afraid to go for it?”
They decided to take that risk and create out loud.
